Direct Scanning: We can digitize directly from your original art on a high-end digital studio camera. We can work from a wide variety of mediums, both traditional, (canvas, watercolor, and drawings) and high tech. Please send us the work unframed, as the frame creates a shadow around the edge of the work. Delicate originals such as chalk drawings or collages should be photographed, not direct scanned, to prevent damage. We can handle virtually any size original. Call to discuss the best way to begin your edition.
Scanning from Photographs: We have obtained outstanding reproduction from transparencies, both 35mm and large format. We request that you scrutinize the transparency closely to ensure that it is a satisfactory representation of your artwork. While computers can work wonders, it is more economical to take a new, high quality photo than to retouch a shot that is off color. Black and white photographic prints scan beautifully; please send them unmounted.
Digital Originals: If your artwork already exists in digital form, we are able to work with that. We can accept the most commonly used media, such as Zip, Jaz, CD and DAT tape. We can work with most file formats, though some do work better than others. Ask for our free "Giclée Technical Bulletin" covering our preferences on file size, format, and scan resolution.
Color Fidelity: Remember we can only match what we can see! Clients who get the best quality at the most reasonable cost are those who provide us with accurate color reference during proofing. This is especially true if you provide a digital file, since the colors on a monitor may differ from those on a print.
