"A show about reverence, awe and healing, it reveals Freed’s lifetime preoccupation with water and trees."
Weeping Beach, Justin Freed
Blazing Editions is proud to have assisted artist Justin Freed in his recent solo show, Sacred Tree Habitat, at Galatea Fine Art in Boston. His exquisite photographs of trees from across the eastern seaboard express sheer power, form and splendor. Commanding images captured by Freed invite individuals to experience the multitude of sensations in which forests and trees radiate. The gallery space has been transformed, utilizing a variety of display methods including large-scale metal photographs, videos, digital images, hanging screens and music. Elements of technology and nature are thus blended, heightening one’s senses to another dimension. When combined, aspects of the organic and the contemporary totally engulf visitors in a transcendent yet artistic engagement. Freed is drawn to the story of trees and their life cycles, which he believes mirror our own human experience on earth. After this walk in the woods, Freed wishes the viewer to feel as intertwined with nature as the roots of trees do to the ground. Wandering through this 'forest' is a must!
Sacred Tree Habitat is on view November 2 through December 2, 2018 at Galatea Fine Art

Blazing Editions is honored to have assisted international photographer, Guadalupe Laiz in opening her first Art Gallery in Aspen, CO. The gallery currently exhibits an extensive collection of her breathtaking images-- the beauty and uniqueness of the indigenous horses of Iceland. These photographs coincide with her body of work from the upcoming book ‘Horses of Iceland,’ that will be published in 2019. It has been shown in exhibitions throughout the United States, France, Iceland and Switzerland. Alongside her ‘Horses of Iceland’ pieces, Laiz concentrates on landscape photography, the ocean, and nature throughout her work. Located in the heart of Aspen, her gallery exudes quintessential sensations of delicacy and beauty, fused with strength and refinement.
Laiz' adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for wildlife preservation also extends within more of her recent work, shot in Namibia this past September of 2018.
Guadalupe Laiz is an international artist, photographer and explorer born and raised in Argentina. She moved to the US aspiring to start her career as a photographer at age 18. She claims that her real education began after attending Art School with a degree in Photography in Colorado.

Nydia Blas, Whatever You Like Series, Ithaca, NY
This October, Blazing Editions was proud to assist in the production of the Diversify.Photo Exhibition at PDN PhotoPlus 2018, in the Jacob Javits Center, NYC. It was a show creatively curated, questioning societal norms behind the lens. Through the thoughtful organization of images deriving from artists of different backgrounds, identities, and intents, viewers were able to experience what it means to be aware of that fact that diversity has multiple layers--layers that do not only include the subject before the lens, but the individual behind. Diversify recognizes the need for more resources so that Art Buyers, Consumers, and Photo Directors in charge of such subject matter can discover photographers of color available for assignments and commissions.
NOTE FROM EXHIBITION
'Diversify is a verb. It is an action - an intentional movement to break with the narrow lens through which history and the mass media has seen and recorded the images of our time. Diversify was born out of a recognition that calling for more diversity in the photo industry is not enough.'
For complete access to the database with more information about each photographer - including contact information, self-identified ethnicity, language(s) spoken, and areas of expertise - please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Diversify is an initiative from Brent Lewis and Andrea Wise with help from Jehan Jillani, Jennifer Samuel, and Elijah Walker. Thanks to Dudley M. Brooks, Michael Wichita, and Elizabeth Krist.
