Capturing Originals
We can create a digital file of your original artwork for printing and reproduction in three ways. We can photograph the original, scan it from a transparency or a print, or you can supply a high-quality digital file. We offer large-format scanning for artwork of any size.
SCANNING TRANSPARENCIES & FILM
We understand that providing the original isn’t always easy, so we also accept transparencies or high-quality photographic prints. For slides, we prefer 8x10, but we can also work with 4x5. Our Scitex Eversmart Flatbed Scanner produces results comparable to drum scans.
-
Digitally capture artwork at its native original size. Typically, you can enlarge it from the original size.
-
The file is captured in RAW format for maximum flexibility
-
We offer color adjustment and editing to match the desired target. We work one-on-one with artists, both in our studio and remotely, to achieve the exact color.
-
We can make digital enhancements upon request. We have proprietary software to enhance files for enlargements
-
Digital Captures allow files to be enlarged upto 4x the original size
-
Digital files are stored on & off-site. We also provide cloud storage as well. Files are requested on demand.
Digital capture is more than simply photographing a painting.
Our capture environment is built specifically for reproducing original artwork. We use calibrated studio lighting, cross-polarized lighting, tethered capture, and controlled color temperature to minimize glare and reflections while creating a consistent, repeatable starting point.
A custom capture color profile helps us translate the camera’s response closer to the original artwork from the beginning. From there, we carefully process and color-manage each file, referencing the original painting to create an accurate, high-resolution digital master.
The result is a file designed to preserve the original's color, texture, detail, and character—and serve as the foundation for future fine art reproductions, archival records, exhibitions, and other applications.
Preserve the original. Reproduce it with confidence.
