Allyson Monson: Vintage Tickets on Clear UV Acrylic
Photography with a New Sense of Depth
Allyson Monson photographs familiar objects closely enough that they become something new. For her vintage ticket series, which includes the Yankees, Knicks, and Rangers, she wanted each ticket to feel like an object on the wall rather than a picture of one. Blazing Editions produced the series as second-surface UV prints on clear acrylic.
The project
We printed each image in reverse on the back of a 1/4" clear acrylic panel using our SwissQprint Nyala 5 flatbed UV printer. Viewed from the front, the ink sits behind a smooth, glossy layer of acrylic, giving the colors depth and protecting the print from handling.
Instead of filling the panel edge to edge, we left a clear border around each ticket. When the piece is hung, the wall shows through that border and becomes part of the presentation. In one installation, a 1986 New York Yankees ticket appears to float against exposed brick, with no opaque panel around it.
Because the border is clear, any mounting hardware would be visible, so the mount needed as much attention as the print. We set a recessed aluminum inset mount behind the image area, where the ticket hides it. The piece stands slightly off the wall and shows no visible hardware.

About ALLYSON MONSON
Growing up in the New York suburbs kept the city within reach. The city’s people, lights, sounds, and movement profoundly shaped her visual sense, and urban energy remains a key theme in her work. In contrast, memories of summers on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, where water, nature, and atmosphere deeply influenced her perspective, stand out. Her work has evolved over time.
Allyson studied Textiles, Merchandising, and Design at the University of Rhode Island, then Interior Design at the Studio Arts Center International in Florence, Italy, through the Cleveland Institute of Art. In Florence, she learned to creatively reinterpret ordinary objects, which shifted her worldview. Surrounded by historic design and craftsmanship, she began noticing texture, form, and function in new ways, learning to see beyond an object’s surface to what it could become.
Today, Allyson’s photography explores beyond what the eye perceives. Her work ranges from minimal compositions with depth to complex images that evoke curiosity. A common theme is the interplay of light, texture, color, and movement that connects past and present, familiarity and discovery.
Her photography combines her passions for art, design, and travel. Her work is collected and featured in collaborations with interior designers, art consultants, retailers, and galleries nationwide. She has exhibited at major shows, including The Architectural Digest Design Show – NYC, The Affordable Art Show – NYC, Art Basel – Miami, Market Art + Design, and The Hamptons.
