From Image to Finished Artwork

About Steve Koppel
Experience Expressions Gallery
Steve’s approach to photography begins with time spent along Cape Cod’s waters. Through creative techniques in the field, he explores how his camera can express the movement of water, sand, and light, creating photographs that often take on a painterly quality.
His commitment to imagery extends beyond his artwork. Steve founded the nonprofit EDI Institute, which promotes healing and resilience through expressive imagery created on mobile devices.
Before taking up photography, Steve spent 20 years as a Senior Partner and business consultant at Accenture, leaving in 2002 to volunteer with nonprofit organizations and help maximize their social impact. Steve is a Trustee at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and has served in numerous volunteer strategy roles at other Boston-area healthcare organizations. Locally, Steve serves on the Board of the Association to Preserve Cape Cod.
A graduate of Brown University, Steve founded the non-profit EDI Institute. This non-profit promotes healing and resilience for patients and caregivers through imagery created on mobile devices. Steve is a frequent speaker at conferences and camera clubs and conducts retreats on Cape Cod focused on imagery as a form of self-expression with an emphasis on the overall photographic experience. Steve’s photography hangs in several Boston-area hospitals and businesses, including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, and The Flatley Company.
Expressions Gallery brings together Steve’s coastal photography, his connection to Cape Cod, and his interest in using imagery as self-expression.
