About eDWARD Bakst
I see imagination as the origin of inspiration, individuality, ideation, innovation, and invention. Extensive travel has inspired my art and photography, where exposure to varied cultures, lifestyles, and realities provoke the creator’s sway.
My artwork has been exhibited internationally at venues and events such as MvVO @ Oculus in New York City, the Emerging Innovation Summit in Australia, the VIDAK Invitational Poster Exhibition in Seoul, and the “Human Rights” exhibition organized by AIAPI–UNESCO in Italy. My pieces have appeared at the Qatar International Art Festival and in MADS Galleries in Milan, the Canary Islands, and Barcelona. Further international exposure includes the Eunoia International Art Exhibition, a digital billboard presentation in NYC’s Times Square, and the US State Department’s “Impact of Exchange” exhibition, which toured multiple locations in the United States.
As an artist, designer, and director, I created internationally award-winning short-form animated films, several of which have been screened at the prestigious SIGGRAPH Electronic Theater. Clients include MTV, SCI-FI Channel, FX/Movie Channel, Smithsonian, Nickelodeon, ABC, Noggin, NBC, Ajinomoto, BIC, PBS, HBO, AT&T, National Geographic, UNICEF, Smithsonian Natural History Museum, Discovery, Showtime, VIASA, and Sesame Workshops. I am a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and support from the Jerome Foundation, and have served as a Fulbright Specialist, under which I conducted my Imagination Workshops in Pakistan.
In my academic career, I designed, directed, consulted on, and launched new programs at Pratt Institute, Columbia University, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, and College for Creative Studies. Invited by Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, I spearheaded the curriculum design and building concept for the new School of Art, Design & Media. Afterward, I oversaw the establishment of a new School of Technology for the Arts, Singapore. I have conducted my Imagination Workshops across the globe, including Malaysia, Israel, Pakistan, Costa Rica, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Cuba, China, UAE, Turkey, and the United States.
